Most of what matters happens away from the markets. We start with the life you want, then build the money around it. Investing is one piece of a much bigger picture.
Cash flow, goals, and the trade-offs between them are mapped, revisited, and kept current as life changes.
When can you stop working, and how do you draw an income that lasts? We model it in plain numbers. Read our Ithaca retirement guide →
Year-round, not just in April. We coordinate with your CPA so nothing slips through the cracks.
529s, gifting, and the money conversations families rarely get to have well.
Insurance gaps, wills, and beneficiaries are reviewed and aligned with what you actually intend.
Low-cost, transparent, built to be boring. An investment portfolio you can actually understand.
A few unhurried conversations. We ask a lot of questions and leave no stone unturned.
A written plan with clear, prioritized next steps in plain language you understand.
We help you implement, not just advise. Accounts, paperwork, and follow-through handled.
Life moves. We meet through the year and keep the plan honest as things change.
No commissions, no proprietary products, no surprises. One all-in fee covers both planning and investment management, and it drops as our relationship grows.
You start at 0.85%. It drops to 0.80% at your 2-year anniversary and settles at 0.75% at your 5-year.
No. We have no account minimums. We believe everyone deserves access to a fiduciary, especially young professionals just getting started.
One all-in advisory fee that covers both planning and investment management. It starts at 0.85% of the assets we manage, drops to 0.80% at your 2-year anniversary, and settles at 0.75% at your 5-year. Larger accounts pay less, down to 0.45% above $5M. You always pay whichever rate is lower. No commissions, no hourly bills, no surprises.
Only the ones that can move. Your IRA, Roth IRA, and taxable brokerage accounts transfer to Altruist, our custodian, and we manage them directly. Workplace plans like a 403(b) or 401(k) have to stay put while you're still employed, so we advise on those inside your employer's menu and fold them into the plan. Once you separate from the job, we can roll them over and take them on directly.
Yes. A lot of our clients work at Cornell, Ithaca College, or Cayuga Medical Center, so TIAA Traditional, the Fidelity fund menu, phased retirement, and payout options are everyday work here. We advise on the choices inside your plan while you're employed, and manage the assets directly once you can roll them over. Read the Cornell guide →
No. Planning and investing are one service here: the plan decides what we buy, and managing the portfolio is how the plan stays current through the year. If you're after a standalone plan without the investing, we're probably not the right fit, but we're happy to point you toward hourly planners who do exactly that.
Never. We're fee-only. We don't sell products or earn commissions. When you need coverage, we'll point you to independent brokers who can shop the market on your behalf.
Always. We don't draft documents or file returns, but we quarterback the process so your plan, taxes, and estate documents all point the same direction.
No pressure, no sales pitch. Just an honest look at where you stand.
